OSMOTEC "LS 100 - 1500"

Foreword

The "OSMOTEC LS" reverse-osmosis systems is used to demineralize water supplies and well waters with a low saline content (maximum T.D.S. of 1,5000 mg/l). It is different from the ion-exchange resin systems as it does not require the use of acid and sodium carbonate (which result in problems in treating the regeneration eluates); they offer long-lasting reliability, and running them proves extremely simple. The "OSMOTEC LS" systems require pretreatment, which is often limited to the addition of a certain amount of sequestrant in order to maintain the calcium carbonates and sulphates in solution, to keep the membrane from being dirtied. The rates of flow and the characteristics of the water produced may vary according to a number of parameters of the water supply (temperature, T.D.S., etc.).
Under standard conditions of use (featured in the relevant table), the conductivity of the water produces is always lower than 20 microsiemens/cm.

Structural features and componentry

"OSMOTEC LS" Mod. 100 - 1500

Output conducivity: less than 20 micro S/cm.
The hourly production and the conducivity refer to
the operation of the system after three years with
suitable pretreatment and with the following
conditions used as reference.

  1. saline content of the raw water TDS=15000 mg/l.
  2. temperature of the water supply: 15ºC
  3. min./max. pressure of the water supply: 3/5 bar
  4. output pressure of the permeated fluid: 1 bar
  5. SDI:<3.
  6. iron and manganese content respectively: less than 0.05 mg/l.
  7. free chlorine: absent.

The type of pretreatment and any post-treatment must be chosen case by case based on the characteristics of the water to be treated and the use the product is intended for.
The pretreatment must nonetheless be such as to assure the solubility of the calcium carbonates and sulphates in the concentrate.
